When founder Vincent Tramonte came to Northern Virginia in 1940 to study law, he struggled to find “the good stuff” that he was used to seeing in his hometown of New York City. With some help from his mother and two sons, Tramonte opened his Italian products, pizza and sandwich shop in 1980. Bakery

The Swiss Bakery
Owners Laurie and Reto Weber have significant baking experience, both following in the footsteps of their family members—Laurie her father, Reto his grandfather. When the pair opened their first bakery in 2001, their classically Swiss creations attracted clients that include the embassies of Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein. In addition to the expected cakes, breads, cookies and tarts, this eco-friendly bakery also serves espresso, beer, wine, ice cream and sorbet. Butcher

The Whole Ox
This shop, which serves up ethically raised, hormone- and antibiotic-free meats from area farms, has grown to also offer dine-in options Tuesdays-Saturdays. And you best believe that the food is good as it made our 2017 50 Best Restaurants list. Cheestique
The growing wine- and cheese-focused establishment sells gift baskets, charcuterie platters, gift cards and an assortment of wines from its shop, but from the brunch, lunch and dinner restaurant find fondue, grilled cheeses, sharable plates, sandwiches, salads, soups, macaroni and cheese meals and entrees. Farmers Market

Falls Church Farmers Market
Open year-round on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-noon, April-December, and 9 a.m.-noon, January-March, this outdoor one-stop shop for fruits, veggies and other goods attracts, at least, 40 vendors.
