European / $$$ / 3100 Washington Blvd., Arlington
Lyon Hall might be the most consistently crowded restaurant in Arlington, or even Northern Virginia. It could be a rainy Monday, barely quitting time, and the dining room is full.
The brasserie’s charm is as much about the scene as its superb beer list and scratch kitchen. With a mix of Euro and modern American influences, the housemade provisions include a short rib frankfurter that will make you reconsider any objections to hot dogs and wild boar rillette that is smoky and fatty and not in that backroom card-player way. It’s luxurious and rustic and pairs all too well with too many Belgian beers.
