Spanish / $$$ / 1110 N. Glebe Road, Arlington

With wraparound windows as walls and bright pops of color everywhere—golden yellow banquettes, sunset coral chairs and sea blue glassware—SER’s cheery, expansive dining room plays host to one of the world’s most communal cuisines. Not strictly a tapas restaurant, though slices of ham, plates of cheese, mounds of papas bravas and balls of croquetas are on the menu, this Spanish restaurant also concentrates on formal entrees. There’s salted cod, pungent and succulent, braised pork cheeks, abundantly meaty, and of course paella, where the duck broth-soaked rice hosts bits of meat and a tableful of friends to finish it.
