Topgolf opened its first U.S. location in Alexandria in 2005, and now that location is most likely going to close as the company has signed on to open a facility at National Harbor. The new location was approved for a 15-acre site off Oxon Hill Road with a 20-year lease. The site where the Alexandria Topgolf now resides is being considered for future residential and retail use. The planned move could take up to more than a year or two.

Equinox Gym coming to Clarendon’s Market Common

Regency Centers purchased Clarendon’s 10-acre mixed-use development Market Common in the spring of 2016, and the company has been making strides toward a redevelopment of the area. They recently signed Equinox Fitness to open a gym in the development, which is anchored by Whole Foods. Equinox already has a location in Tysons.

Former Artisphere gets a new calling

What was hoped to be a major culture hub in Northern Virginia, the Artisphere has sat empty for a few years after financing for the center was placing a financial burden on the area. It closed in 2015. Now the space in Rosslyn, known for its domed structure, will become a co-working space called The Spaces, expected to open in November. It will include 22,000 square feet of office space with 303 desks, two meeting rooms, event space, an outdoor patio and a gym.

Arlingtonians of legal drinking age can now get booze delivered right to their door as Total Wine & More inked a deal with Minibar Delivery that allows for online or mobile ordering of beer and wine. Orders will be delivered in less than two hours.

Ashburn may get more adrenaline-based business

Caliber Club Shooting Sports Inc., a Leesburg-based group, is looking to open a high-end gun club at Commonwealth Center that is already home to Topgolf and iFly. If approved, the facility would be two stories of shooting range, martial arts studios, yoga and spin rooms, cigar bar, juice and smoothie bar, billiards room, party rooms and meeting spaces. Plans are for it to be a members-only club, which brings with it the luxe services of private locker rooms, massage rooms and saunas.
