Commonwealth Joe delivers cold brew right to your office
Purveyor of nitro cold brew Commonwealth Joe is planning on taking its business model up a notch thanks to a $2.5 million round of funding it received earlier this year. The company plans on utilizing the funds to expand its already popular business into a distribution system that deliver kegs of the cold brew to offices in the area.
Del Ray may get a beer garden
The Secret Garten is on the docket for Del Ray as the company’s owners have submitted a special use permit to transform the now-closed Señor Chicken space at the north end of Del Ray into a restaurant and beer garden. The permit asks for outdoor seating, live entertainment options and hours from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week. The request will go before a public hearing on Oct. 3. The Secret Garten plans to focus on American craft beers as well as German and Belgian offerings and to hold tastings, pairings and homebrewer events along with a menu of American and German fare.
Alexandria being bought up by North Carolina-based company
Historic Old Town Alexandria’s draw is the boutiques that line the streets, and recently the closure rates have gone up. Enter Asana Partners, a Charlotte-based real estate firm that has purchased more than $100 million worth of investment properties in the city, according to the Washington Business Journal, including buildings that house Lou Lou, Pizzeria Paradiso, 116 King Seasonal Pop-Up and more.
Heritage Brewing Company is moving
Heritage Brewing Company is ditching its digs at an industrial park in Manassas and moving to The Landing at Cannon Branch between Prince William Parkway and the VA-234 Bypass. The company is tripling its production and investing $8.9 million, including a $250,000 grant from the Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund that will be matched by the city of Manassas. The new facility will also house production for the company’s affiliate business, Veritas Coffee Co., and bring in 66 new jobs. It will also include a brewpub.
Goose Creek Golf Club may lose golf
In mid-2015 the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors agreed to allow Kettler Inc., the purchaser of the Goose Creek Golf Club, a rezoning plan that would nix nine of the golf course’s 18 holes to allow for residential units, a hotel, a restaurant and office space while keeping half of the golf course. Now, according to the Washington Business Journal, those nine holes may be nixed as well. Kettler stated the demise of the golf course industry, saying it is not a viable economic use of the property.
New fertility clinic comes to NoVA
The Colorado Centers for Reproductive Medicine, ranked as the No. 1 fertility center in the U.S. by parents.com, opened its first location in Northern Virginia in Tysons Corner. The facility provides on-site physicians, IVF lab, procedure area and diagnostic services.
