Ashburn ‘American Idol’ competitor given ticket to Hollywood; Cherry blossoms’ predicted peak bumped to early April

21-year-old Ashburn resident Brandon Diaz was given a golden ticket to Hollywood on Monday night’s airing of American Idol. Judge Katy Perry predicted that Diaz would make it into the show’s top 10.

Due to March’s still chilly weather, the cherry blossoms’ predicted peak bloom dates, originally March 23-27, are now March 30-April 3.
