Virginia lawmakers have approved legislation to allow a speed camera program in Virginia, which would be the state’s first time using speed cameras to discourage speeding. The legislation now goes to Gov. Ralph Northam for approval. If signed, the legislation would allow Virginia State Police troopers to use the cameras only in highway work zones. (The Washington Post)
The Fairfax Park Authority has added 36.9 acres of parkland to its holdings. The land was donated by Jennings Business Park LLC. It will be used for recreation, including hiking, biking and walking trails. (InsideNoVA)
Loudoun County Administrator Tim Hemstreet proposed a fiscal 2020 budget of $3.2 billion in appropriations for the county government and public schools. The budget includes employee pay, providing resources to new facilities, human services safety net programs and support for the county’s capital program and community development agencies. The Virginia House of Delegates has passed a bill prohibiting drivers from holding their cellphones while on the road. The hands-free law would include a $125 fine for distracted drivers. (NBC4 Washington)
