Here’s what fans of the region’s home team need to know:
Who will they play?
The Washington Nationals will face either the Houston Astros or the New York Yankees, who will face off on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 8:08 p.m. in Game 4 of of the American League Championship Series (although it may be postponed due to inclement weather). Currently, Houston has a 2-1 series lead.
Update: Game 4 of the American League Championship Series was postponed due to rain. The Astros and Yankees will now play Game 4 on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 8:08 p.m.
The Schedule
The first game of the World Series will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The Nats will not have home-field advantage for Games 1 and 2, as both the Astros and Yankees won more games in the regular season than Washington. Games 3, 4 and 5 will be held at Nationals Park on Friday, Oct. 25; Saturday, Oct. 26; and Sunday, Oct. 27 (if necessary).
How to Get Tickets
The Nats will host the last half of the series at Nationals Park, and you’re probably wondering, “How do I snag tickets?” For now, only season ticket plan holders have priory access for World Series tickets. Although general admission tickets are not on sale yet, fans can become a NATS PLUS member to get VIP priority access to World Series tickets and can find more information about post-season tickets here. Fans can also buy tickets on secondary sites like StubHub and SeatGeek, but the prices are steep.
If you Attend the Games
If you do get tickets to the World Series, the team is encouraging fans to wear red during the games. It’s also important to note that you must bring the correct ticket for the game you are attending. Fans arriving with Game 3 tickets during Game 4, for example, will not be admitted into the park and tickets cannot be reprinted or replaced.
