There is more to loving an animal than just cuddling and playing with it. At the Animal Welfare League, campers get plenty of time to do that, but they also have a curriculum focused on inspiring compassion for all living things, not just the furry ones, promoting the welfare of all animals and encouraging responsible pet ownership. Campers have opportunities for hands-on learning with animals (including caring for a classroom pet), assisting with the promotion of specific animals for adoption and attending special workshops hosted by the league’s veterinary staff, animal services officers, wildlife rehabilitators, animal trainers and more.
