The City of Fairfax is on a mission to provide children with a summer full of positive fun and engaged learning through its summer camp programs. The city has traditional summer camps where campers participate in themed activities and enjoy some field trips; camps are specific to the campers’ ages, starting at the Sunshine Kidz program and going all the way up to the Teen Adventure Travel Camp. This year, the city has a new program called Emerging Leaders of Fairfax, a four-week program for rising ninth-11th graders who work on communication skills, interviewing, resume building, team building, First Aid/CPR training and more, then use those skills to work with counselors at the general summer camps for some hands-on experience.
