Northern Virginia Community College and Amazon Web Services have partnered together to bring a new associates degree to the college.
Launched in the fall, the Cloud Computing specialization is a part of the college’s Information Systems Technology Associate Degree. It is one of the first cloud computing programs in the nation offered by a community college.
NoVA houses one of the largest concentrations of IT jobs in the U.S., and the program hopes to prepare graduates for that demand. The IST Cloud Computing degree program takes two years to complete, and the curriculum is mapped to credentials required by Amazon Web Services’ AWS Educate program, and other cloud computing employers.
The specialization allows all students to receive membership in the AWS Educate program to gain hands-on experience with cloud technology and its evolving tools.
Currently, Cloud Computing courses are offered at Northern Virginia Community College’s Alexandria, Loudoun and Woodbridge Campuses.
The college also hopes to develop dual-credit courses for high school students and extend the program to four-year Virginia universities. For more information, click here.
