A night at the symphony becomes a family affair with Pixar in Concert coming to Wolf Trap on June 20.
During this exclusive show, the National Symphony Orchestra will magically pair scores from more than a dozen Pixar films with movie clips projected on giant screens.
Some of the movies featured are award winners and family favorites such as Ratatouille, A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, WALL-E, Up, The Incredibles, Brave, Monsters, Inc., Monsters University and the Cars and Toy Story series. The familiarity of the animated excerpts and music allow families to broaden their horizons and give children their first symphony experience.
The show will be conducted by the acclaimed Emil de Cou, in his tenth season as the official conductor of the NSO at Wolf Trap. He is named by The Washington Post as “one of the few conductors trying to open new doors into classical music, either with video…or other new technologies aimed at younger audiences.”
Wolf Trap is the only National Park dedicated to the Performing Arts. The breathtaking backdrop of the 6,800-seat indoor/outdoor Filene Center theatre offers unforgettable concerts under the stars, and it remains a timeless DC bucket list favorite.
“The outdoor concerts at Wolf Trap feature the best summer entertainment in the region,” says Jennifer Boutlet-Roberston of South Riding. “ With Pixar in Concert, I love that I can bring my children, a picnic, and share a special evening together.”
Pixar in Concert is presented for one evening only. Further information about the performance can be found on the official Wolf Trap website.
