Like leggings, neon and Jessica Simpson, the only certainty of comebacks is that if something—or someone—was once popular, expect a return. With a nod to eco-consciousness and a hope of formal dining’s revival, reveal your inner caterer and decorate your love affair’s table with a heart-felt, napkin fold. (Instructions slightly truncated.)

Step 1: Lay the napkin out as a diamond, with the finished side facing down and the seamed edges up. Fold the lower left edge up to the upper right edge, forming a rectangle.
Step 2: Fold the lower left edge up to the upper right edge again, forming a narrower rectangle.
Step 3: Rotate the napkin so that the fold is at the top and the loose edges are at the bottom.
Step 4: Holding the middle of the upper edge with your left hand, use your right hand to fold the right half of the upper edge down to the vertical center of the napkin.
Step 5: Fold the left half of the upper edge down to the vertical centerline of the napkin.
Step 6: Flip the napkin over, keeping the point up and the tails down. Working on the left tail, fold the lower right and left corners in to meet at the vertical centerline of the tail, forming a point.
Step 7: Working on the right tail, fold the lower right and left corners in to meet at the vertical centerline of the tail, forming a point.
Step 8: Flip the napkin over and arrange a heart at each place with the point facing down.
