We all love a good excuse to wine and dine.
Starting in January 2020, Falls Church’s 2941 Restaurant will kick off a new monthly tasting series led by bar director Nikki Drake.
Hosted on the last Friday of every month from 6 to 7 p.m., Drake will take guests through a journey of different wine, beer and spirits for $25 to $35 per person to pair with passing hors d’oeuvres.

On Friday, Jan. 31, the series begins with “Bourbon vs. Rye,” where Drake will spotlight the differences between bourbon and rye whiskey. Guests will taste Woodford Reserve’s bourbon and rye whiskey (half-ounce pours) and Manhattan cocktails made with the spirits.
The Friday, Feb. 28 tasting is all about “New World vs. Old World” wine. Swirl, sniff, sip and savor wines from Bordeaux and Napa, with U.S. brand director Patricia Alazaraki of Domaine Chevalier & Château Guiraud, and National American Portfolio Director at Monsieur Touton Gary Gunner. Poured wines will include Hourglass, “Estate,” Sauvignon Blanc, Calistoga, Napa Valley 2018; Chateau Guiraud, “G”, Bordeaux, France 2016; 2941 Reserve Cabernet, Napa Valley 2017; Domaine de Chevalier, Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, France; and Château Guiraud, Sauternes 1er Cru 2016.
2941 Restaurant appeared on this year’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
