There is no shortage of places to catch live music across Northern Virginia, especially when summer rolls around. You can hear just about any kind of music you’re looking for too, whether it’s bluegrass and folk, or rap and R&B.
But live acoustic music could start to radiate through the Alexandria waterfront if a permit, filed by Riverside Taco, is approved by the City Council in early March. The eatery, which reopens for the season on Sunday, April 5, is best known for slinging tacos, soft drinks and beer out of a vintage Airstream, and gathering locals and visitors alike in the surrounding 90-seat picnic area.
If approved, “The outdoor market will continue current operations, but would feature live acoustic musicians and/or amplified background music for market patrons and passerby during the hours of operations,” according to the permit.
With the location’s proximity to the Torpedo Factory Warehouse Center and other local art initiatives, Riverside Taco believes this would better the area even more so, and align with the city’s goals of continuing to create welcoming spaces across the waterfront.
Tacos, beer and live tunes? Let’s start counting the days to warmer, breezier days.
