This March, grab a slice of history-inspired pizza at Pizzeria Paradiso. The restaurant chain, which can be found across DC and in Alexandria, is celebrating Women’s History Month with a special pizza series available throughout the month.
The four limited-edition pizzas recognize leading women in the local beverage industry, and was designed in collaboration with each honored woman. Diners can also expect a recommended beer or cocktail pairing with each.
Each Women in Pizza special will be available at all five locations for one week each. Nine-inch pies are $15 and 12-inch pies are $21. See the lineup below.
Pia’s Pizza
Available Thursday, March 5-Wednesday, March 11
Made in honor of Republic Restoratives co-founder Pia Carusone, Pia’s Pizza includes honey and black pepper ricotta cheese, fontina, mozzarella, roasted shallots, escarole and arugula, with a recommended beverage pairing of Republic Restoratives’ Rodham Rye Sour.
Melissa’s New Jersey Pork Roll Pizza
Available Thursday, March 12-Wednesday, March 18
Named after Lost Rhino Brewing Company’s laboratory manager, Melissa Hoffman, this pizza includes Paradiso tomato sauce, New Jersey pork roll, spinach, mozzarella, cheddar, onions and eggs. The perfect pairing? Losh Rhino’s Kolsch brew.
Julie & Emily’s Spicy-Hot Pizza
Available Thursday, March 19-Wednesday, March 25
Birreria Paradiso sauce, ricotta cheese, pepperoni, caramelized garlic, mozzarella and spicy pork sausage is what you can expect from this pizza honoring Denizens Brewing Co.’s co-owners Julie Veratti and Emily Bruno. Pair it with Denizens’ Animal IPA.
Leah’s Spring Pea-za
Available Thursday, March 16-Wednesday, April 1
Last but not least, Leah Cheston, the co-owner and director of operations at Right Proper Brewing, will be honored with Leah’s Spring Pea-za. The pie features ricotta, fennel, English peas, lemon zest, pea shoots and pecorino. Plus, on Thursday, March 26, a special collaboration beer with Right Proper Brewing Company will be released in conjunction with Leah’s Spring Pea-za, called A Proper Friend Blend. The 5% ABV drink is a blend of barrel-aged ales, and, you guessed it, pairs perfectly with Lea’s Spring Pea-za slices.
