As Northern Virginia restaurants continue to adapt to the effects of the coronavirus, many eateries are joining together with cities to provide local residents with their favorite meals, and also support restaurant owners, chefs and front-house staff. And, in Fairfax, a new, out-of-the-box initiative is challenging at-home diners to share a blindfolded meal with their quarantine crews. The initiative, recognized by the hashtag #FairfaxCityEatsBlindfolded, will continue from now until Wednesday, June 10 (the presumed date that the stay-at-home order will be lifted).
Here’s how it works: Place an order from your favorite Fairfax City restaurant and when the meal arrives, blindfold all hungry participants. From there, all are welcome to guess what’s on their plate, and eventually share footage of their attempts on social media with the hashtag.
Each week, the individual’s post with the most likes will receive a variety of Fairfax City-branded swag, ranging from plastic cups to T-shirts. For more information on participating restaurants, click here.
Plus, if you’re looking for other ways to support local businesses right now, consider ordering meals through Visit Fairfax’s Take Out Trail, which provides a comprehensive list of deals from all restaurants, breweries and wineries that are open right now. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for Sunday, Aug. 2 through Sunday, Aug. 9, when Fairfax City will host its annual summer restaurant week.
