According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lives. Research shows early detection is one of the best ways to fight breast cancer, and as a result, the month of October is dedicated to fundraising and increasing awareness about the disease and treatment research. Throughout NoVA, there are screenings, galas and other charitable events that help disseminate health tips and prevention techniques, raise money for research and support survivors.
