Sooner or later, Spring will bloom. Here are five pieces to help you transition–Angela Bobo
Pajama dressing has been very popular the last couple of seasons. I have to admit I am not quite on board with wearing actual PJs (i.e the silky button-down and pant kind), but I do appreciate a comfortable and chic outfit like this affordable pick from Aqua. The print colors are neutral enough to work as separate pieces with other items, and the neon pop keeps it from being dull. Aqua Waterblossom Cami and Pants, $78 each; bloomingdales.com.
This skirt, mixing dark and light, will receive maximum wear, which makes it the perfect transition piece from winter into spring. Pair it with opaque black tights for chilly days, or play up the bright tangerine and cream blocks for lighter weather. The skirt is structured, so balance the proportions with something more relaxed: a cropped sweater for winter and a flowy, chiffon blouse for spring. Speaking of flowy, chiffon blouses, this piece looks great paired with the above ASOS skirt. The printed collar adds a bohemian touch and looks chic when contrasted with the modern v-cut. The rest of the top has a simple shape and would take on a more laid-back look with a pair of white denim, which would also pick up on the matching bit of color in the woven neck. The t-shirt silhouette of this dress makes it the perfect piece to just throw on and go, but the print keeps it anything but basic. I am drawn to three things—prints, colors and comfort—and it is the perfect blend of all three. The geometric floral and white blocks seem to put a new spin on the striped and color-blocked shift dresses of last season. Shakuhachi Geo Print Tee Dress, $220; needsupply.com
I always have a soft spot for pale pink pieces. The color is universally flattering and a nice break from the bright colors and prints that I regularly don. This shoe is the definition of pretty edgy, combining soft pastel suede with a lace-up caged stiletto design. The design commands attention, but the color allows the heels to remain approachable for daytime dressing. Alexander Wang Malgosia Lace-Up Sandals, $625; shopbop.com
