Age is just a number
My birthday is coming up, and instead of celebrating with a wild night out on the town, I’m leaning more towards a relaxing weekend with my gal pals, treating ourselves to some spa time. For an hour every Friday and Saturday, Cupcake, a miniature horse, pays Salamander Resort and Spa guests a visit, and—as if an afternoon like that couldn’t get any sweeter—the staycation spot also offers a specialty cocktail topped with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles. Remind you of something out of a children’s book? Me too, but just because I’m almost another year older doesn’t mean I’m immune to ponies and sweet treats. -RK // Salamander Resort and Spa: 500 N. Brewery scavenger hunt
We can’t let the kids have all the fun this week as they look for eggs. Take a trip south to Fredericksburg and join in on an adult scavenger hunt that takes you to eight breweries as you hunt for clues and pick up prizes along the way, and we’re not just talking about a sampling of the brews. Once you find all the clues, your last stop is Adventure Brewing for a grand prize. -LN // Adventure Brewing: 33 Perchwood Drive, Fredericksburg
Spring break for the rest of us
For many area kids, next week marks an annual, much-needed respite from school. Though we may not get a full week off ourselves, I invite you to treat the week as a time for reflection and a chance to reconnect with friends, family and the activities that you love. We could all use a spring break. -EB
