Don’t let your swing go into hibernation over the winter months.
Though January and February in NoVA can, on occasion, produce some beautiful, warm days, winter is in full swing. For many of the area’s passionate golfers, that means time off the links and the risk of some rust building up on their swings.
However, there are a number of indoor options for duffers and scratch players in NoVA to practice at until spring arrives. Here are nine to check out.
Topgolf Alexandria & Topgolf Loudoun
A lot of people may think of golf as a boring sport played at hoity-toity country clubs, but Topgolf has long been creating a party-like atmosphere that anyone can enjoy. Swing away at either of NoVA’s Topgolf locations with a variety of games, heated bays, good food, music and more. For the serious golfer, there are also lessons available and winter leagues to partake in. // Topgolf Alexandria: 6625 S. Van Dorn St., Alexandria & Topgolf Loudoun: 20356 Commonwealth Center Drive, Ashburn
Whether you are just picking up the game or want to spend the winter months refining something in your swing, get ready for the spring through individual or group lessons at Fairfax Golf’s indoor facility. Memberships are also available, which allow you to come in and hit unlimited golf balls during an hour session. // Fairfax Golf: 3887 Pickett Road, Fairfax
Monster Mini Golf
Putting is one of the most important—and challenging—parts of golf. Standing over a 25-footer that winds from left to right and then back again can be pretty scary. Lean into some of those frights at Monster Mini Golf. The indoor, 18-hole miniature golf course has a spooky theme that can be challenging for kids and adults. The facility also has arcade games, laser tag and more to enjoy after you finish 18. // Monster Mini Golf: 14130 Sullyfield Circle, Suite G, Chantilly
Elite Indoor Golf
You only have to travel to Manassas to play some of the world’s most famous courses. Using Tru Golf Simulators, players can enjoy virtual simulations of more than 85 golf courses from around the world. Book a tee time for one, or take part in leagues. Other activities available include corn hole and paint parties. // Elite Indoor Golf: 10103 Residency Road, Manassas
Next Level Golf
Dedicated to helping golfers of all levels take a few strokes off their game, Next Level Golf has people covered year-round with its Sterling facility. Hitting stations, simulator bays, video analysis, a chipping area and a putting green are all available. // Next Level Golf: 333 S. Sterling Blvd., Sterling
The St. James
The recently opened St. James really does have just about everything, and golf is no exception. Learn the basics of golf and develop your game with the help of St. James’ instructors, or get a team together and join in a weekly league using a simulator (individual leagues also available). // The St. James: 6805 Industrial Road, Springfield
Dulles Golf Center & Sports Park
There’s few things as satisfying for a golfer than watching a perfectly hit shot fly through the air and into the horizon, and at the Dulles Golf Center, that’s something you don’t have to be without just because it’s cold outside. Featuring a covered, lighted and heated practice range, Dulles Golf Center says why can’t January be golf season? // Dulles Golf Center & Sports Park: 21593 Jesse Court, Dulles
Golfdom has just about everything a golfer needs, from clubs and balls to apparel, but it also is home to the Eisman Golf Academy. Available from December-March, these indoor lessons can be purchased in either one-hour private lessons ($120), in packages of four ($400) or eight ($700), or by signing up for the full winter program that also includes analysis of your game ($1,350). // Golfdom: 8203 Watson St., McLean
