Get your cameras ready and open your eyes, you’re going to want to see this (and snap a few photos for Instagram, of course).
Refinery29, best known for its editorial content and video programming in the modern era, has reached audiences in an entirely new way in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago with 29Rooms. The immersive art experience has taken thousands of visitors through 29 unique rooms featuring local artists, interactive exhibits and customizable experiences that have challenged each individual to “expand their reality.”
Now, it’s making its debut in the nation’s capital.
Starting Oct. 18, DMV residents can experience the 15-day exhibit 29Rooms: Expand Your Reality, that is a combination of art interpretation, personal experience and social activism in a variety of creative spaces at DC Armory. Each location of the company’s new tour, including DC, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta and Toronto, have representation from a local artist and DC was no exception.
DC’s visual artist, illustrator and animator Trap Bob played a key role in the project’s new designs, implementing her style of bold colors, humor, everyday life and activism throughout the space. Refinery29 also partnered with the ACLU for influence on The Values Stand exhibit, on display in all U.S. locations of the tour.
