Sarah Reeves’ passion for music took hold at a young age. The singer’s career started when she became her church’s worship leader at 15, and a record deal soon followed. The artist, best known for her Christian Top 40 Chart song “Sweet Sweet Sound” (it peaked at No. 27) recently expanded her wings into soft pop, while still keeping her roots intact, with her 2018 album release, Easy Never Needed You.
This month, Reeves makes a stop at Jammin Java to give fans a firsthand look at her new sound, which she discusses below.
What are you currently working on?
For live shows, I’ve been traveling off and on to do quite a few festivals, but I’ve mainly been working on a new project this year. I did my heavy touring last year and this year I’ve just been working on new music that’s a little bit different. The songs are way more vulnerable and more personal than ever before.
How have fans reacted to your new music?
They’ve been really open. People love it and they’re like, “Oh, we dance to this with our kids in the car.” It’s awesome. I want to be this positive influence in people’s lives.
What can we expect at the Jammin Java show?
I’ll be doing some new songs, and I will have a band with me. We are just going to have fun. I like to dance at my shows, so get ready to party. I’m excited to be here. // Jammin Java: 227 Maple Ave. E., Vienna; Oct. 14, 7:30 p.m.; $15-$25
