The region is adjusting to staying home, working from home, exercising at home, dining at home … you get the point. Daily routines have changed, and businesses are adjusting too.
Visit Alexandria, the tourism company for Alexandria, has launched ALX at Home in response to social distancing practices now becoming commonplace in the region.
The new web hub allows residents to access Alexandria restaurants, shops and attractions from their homes, including curbside beer pickup, FaceTime shopping, buying gift cards for future use and picking up ready-to-go dinner to make at home. There will also be a livestreamed writing workshop and other fun at-home activities.
Other features of ALX at Home include 50-plus restaurant offerings, including Chop Shop Taco’s to-go dinner for four to five people, with zero-contact payment and pickup, $25 gift cards and two rolls of toilet paper, and Bastille’s special menu with select wine bottles for $25; 15 retail offerings, like AR Workshop’s to-go DIY kits and Old Town Books’ Writers Retreat care packages and virtual author workshops; virtual tours of attractions and a Ride it Out bike rental promotion from Unlimited Biking; instructional cocktail-making videos for at-home happy hours; and Puppy Love, which simply brings a dose of cuteness to your day from Alexandria’s four-legged friends.
